On Any Given Day: The Social Construction of Homelessness
This original play written and directed by award-winning playwright Dr. Yolanda Nieves, a Humboldt Park native, artfully depicts the challenges that individuals experiencing homelessness face on any given day. It weaves together real stories of individuals and families and reveals how the broader systems of society contribute the reality of homelessness and housing instability. We invite you to participate in this powerful debut and learn more about the active role you can play in providing stable homes that lead to thriving communities.
Ticket price includes the full 60 minute play, a question and answer session with the panel, as well as a networking reception to meet the actors and playwright.
The video piece to the right showcases creative process which blossomed into this full length play and highlights the work of the agency that inspired it all. All proceeds benefit the work of Humboldt Park Social Services to provide comprehensive support to serve, empower and advocate for community residents who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability so they may obtain and maintain permanent housing.
