UC Irvine Contemporary Arts Center
This is a tour of the Arts Building at UC Irvine, a Design-Build project pending LEED platinum certification housing the School's art gallery, black box theater, graduate student art studios, faculty offices, and classrooms. The project incorporates naturally ventilated spaces where possible, at the perimeter, wrapping around spaces requiring high levels of environmental (sound and light) control. The result is a porous, extroverted and inviting building that encourages visual and physical interaction between the building, its occupants and the surrounding community.
