AACE Seattle Section November 12th, 2015 Meeting
Best Western Plus Executive Inn
Seattle, WA

PRESENTATION: UW Montlake Triangle Project  Issues Relating to a Multi-agency Project in a Complex Site Environment

The UW Montlake Triangle Project was necessitated by the construction and future opening of the Sound Transit Link Light Rail Station at the UW. The requirement was to create a grade-separated pedestrian link for future light rail passengers to the UW Medical Center and the Main Campus. This entailed revising an existing plaza, lowering an existing road, and building two pedestrian bridges over existing roadways.

At the same time, in close proximity Sound Transit would be building its Light Rail Station, UW Husky Stadium was being rebuilt, and plans for complete overhaul of the Burke Gilman Trail in this section were ongoing. In this talk, we plan on discussing some of the issues relating to multi-agency participation (ST, UW, KCM, SDOT, WSDOT) with limited funding and steps taken to bring this project in on time and on budget.

PRESENTER: Andy Casillas, Ed Rockwell

Mr. Casillas is a Project Manager with the University of Washington's Capital Projects Office.  He has more than 36 years of experience as Construction Site Manager and Project Engineer on a variety of multi-million dollar fast-track projects.  He has been at the UW for 13 years managing various projects including coordinating all Sound Transit work on the UW campus.
Mr. Rockwell is a Project Controls Engineer with the University of Washington's Capital Projects Office.  He has 15 years of experience working as a Project Manager, Construction Manager and Project Controls Engineer for the UW and Strabag.
