Unlaunch'd Voices: Walt Whitman
Actor Stephen Collins will present excerpts from the Michael Keany play Unlaunch'd Voices: An Evening with Walt Whitman in the recently restored 1793 carriage house at Gore Place.
The play relies on Whitman's poetry, Whitman's own words, and on the book Walt Whitman In Camden, a six-volume collection of daily conversations with Whitman, written by his friend and neighbor, Horace Traubel.
Stephen endeavors to leave the audience with a greater insight into the man and poet as well with an appreciation of Walt Whitman as an eternally free spirit.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion about the art of telling stories.
Admission is free thanks to grants from the Waltham and Watertown Local Cultural Councils which are agencies of the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Reservations are encouraged but not necessary.
