Ownership Transition

This seminar will provide an understanding of the basic principles of internal and external ownership transitions of architectural firms. Attendees will learn how to identify and handle their major practice risks, including how to live with the infamous Crawford and Beacon decisions, and how to use (and not lose) their E & O coverage.

Presenters:

Michael J. Murtaugh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati (BA, 1970) and his law degree from the UCLA School of Law (JD, 1973), and his practice focuses on the counseling and representation of design professionals, employment counseling and general civil litigation.

Josiah G. Belden graduated with a BA degree in accounting and economics in 1973, and was licensed as a CPA shortly thereafter. Today, drawing on 38 years of consulting, accounting and tax planning experience, Joe leads BHL & Co., LLP in providing ownership transition, merger & acquisition, business valuation, statistical analyses, strategic planning and other consulting services to its specialty niche of architectural, engineering and planning companies.

Michelle R. Berger received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Riverside (BA, 1994) and her law degree from the Southwestern Law School (JD, 1997) and her practice focuses on the areas of construction and professional liability litigation.

Michelle R. Generaux received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame (BA, 1993) and law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law (JD, 1996), and her practice focuses is on the representation of privately held businesses, with an emphasis on architectural and engineering firms.
