Dr. Charlotte McIvor will join us from University College Galway, Ireland, as our guest in the launch of Corrib Theatre's Intercultural Ireland Initiative. The reception is free and will be in the lobby of Artists Repertory Theatre. Refreshments will be provided.
The face of Ireland changed when the "Celtic Tiger" brought prosperity during the mid 1990's, and resulted in considerable inward migration. Individuals from those new demographics are now creating and appearing in Irish theatre. We plan to broaden the scope of Corrib's productions to explore this diversity and to program plays reflecting modern Ireland moving beyond the Western European-centric characters historically found in Irish drama.
