Hidden Bruises: Live Poetic Theater Production
Colored Ink and Lyrical Opposition are collaborating to produce an original production entitled "Hidden Bruises" in honor of Domestic Violence Month on Saturday, October 31st, 2015. Hidden Bruises is a Poetic-Theatrical look through the four sides of a domestic violence relationship; the side of the victim, the abuser, family, and friends who sit by and watch it unfold. Through hip-hop, theater and poetry, we show the fourth side by telling the true story of a young teenager fighting to leave an abusive relationship while hiding her bruises only God will be able to heal.
On October 31st, we will be performing two shows along with a panel discussion and breakthrough sessions for the community.
2pm-Matinee Show 4pm- Q & A and Breakthrough Sessions 6pm-Final Performance followed by kicking it and grubbing
The production will be centered around the poem "Ball and Chain" written by Bailey Fan. We are going to stretch this poem out theatrically and make ways for the actors to write and insert original pieces that connect to the different parts of the story.

There will be a brief open mic section for artists that would like to chime in on this very issue. Since this is such a tight knit production, even the open mic portion of this event has to be solid. With that being said, we want to bring in all of those interested in participating in the open mic for a minimum of 1-2 workshops held by Lyrical Opposition. This allows us to get a feel for your work and to be able to help you polish it. Workshops will be on Saturdays, October 17th and 24th in San Francisco from 12pm-4pm. Choose which of the two work for you and we can be flexible with times. Artists must participate in these workshops in order to perform at Hidden Bruises.
If you have any questions about our event, including participating in our open mic portion, hosting a breakthrough session or tabling at the event, then please contact Javier Reyes at coloredink41510@gmail.com. Thank you again and looking forward to seeing you seeing this amazing show!
