SoulFire Wheelin' for Project Eden Raffle
SoulFire DMC is partnering with Project Eden to raise money for the Hayward, CA Gay Prom 2012.
The grand prize for our raffle is a 32-inch flat screen TV. There will also be other great prizes as a part of the raffle, including motorcycle helmets, Harley Davidson T-shirts, dinner tickets at bay area restaurants, SWAG, and a motorcycle ride during the San Francisco Dyke March.
Project Eden provides support services to local schools, the probation department and to families. Under Horizon Services Incorporated (HCI) leadership Project Eden began services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning youth, providing a place where these youth are able feel safe and build self-confidence. In 1995 they sponsored their first Gay Prom for youth who may not be welcome at their own school proms and where they could experience an alcohol/drug-free social event. In June of 2009 Project Eden hosted the prom for the 14th year. Each year approximately 400 youth participate. While most are from the San Francisco Bay Area, youth have come from as far away as Alaska and London, England specifically to attend the prom. Each year community volunteers provide donations and chaperone support to make this happen. Project Eden is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization.
You may purchase raffle tickets ($5/each) and event admission tickets ($10/each) here. By purchasing a raffle ticket, your name will be entered into the raffle drawing that will take place at The White Horse Inn on Saturday, May 19th. You need not be present to win.
There will also be a pre-event motorcycle run through the East Bay hills, departing from the Shell station at I-580 and Fruitvale (Oakland); KSU at 11:00am. The run will end at The White Horse Inn where SoulFire will host an event from 3 to 7pm. Entertainers will include: Kentucky Fried Woman, Starr 69, Dorian Faust, Brock Cocker, Charley Horse, Kitty Von Quim, Brush Arbor Girls, Titland, and The Bar Chords. There will also be a DJ spinning a range of beats including Latin, Old Skool, R & B, and more!
