Alice
Bedlam Ensemble will be staging Alice-a reimagination of Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through The Looking Glass". This piece was adapted by Daniella Caggiano and the script was developed through interweaving the original text with the improvisation of the Bedlam Ensemble.
About the project:
"`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.' `What do you mean by that?' said the Caterpillar sternly. `Explain yourself!' `I can't explain myself, I'm afraid, sir' said Alice, `because I'm not myself, you see.'" -- Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
Who are you? This production of Alice is about the divided self, an exploration of Alice's various selves and by proxy, our various selves-- not just the many parts we play on a day to day basis but the different people we have the potential to be. If each character is a part of Alice, who is she? This piece re-invents the classic elements of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through The Looking Glass" with a modern twist, taking us inside the dark wonderland of Alice's mind to answer this question.
