Mentorship Series with Jane Blumenfeld, April 24th, 2012
The Young Planners Group of APA-Los Angeles is proud to host Jane Blumenfeld as the first speaker in this year's Mentorship Series. Join us for a lively and in-depth discussion with Jane on Tuesday, April 24 at the Traxx Bar inside Union Square in Downtown LA, beginning at 6:30p.m. She will share with us some of the broad insight that she has gained through a long career in planning.
More on Jane Blumenfeld: Ms. Blumenfeld had a 32 year career as a professional planner in Los Angeles, primarily in the public sector. Her most recent position, prior to retiring in 2010, was Acting Deputy Director of the Los Angeles Department of City Planning and head of its Citywide Planning Division. In the course of her career, she oversaw the development of new infill housing strategies and ordinances, Transit Oriented District plans, smart growth ordinances, the preservation of industrial lands, zoning to revitalize the Los Angeles River, green building regulations, a new Bicycle Plan, and joint housing and school projects with the LA Unified School District.
During her career, Ms. Blumenfeld was a planner with a land use law practice and the Principal of her own planning firm. She also served as the Planning Advisor to the late Mayor Tom Bradley and Chief of Staff to former Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Feuer. She received a Masters degree in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
In order to preserve the intimacy of the conversation, we are limiting attendees to the first twenty (20) people who RSVP for the event. Responses over the twenty-person cap will be wait-listed and contacted if any seats are made available before April 24th.
