How long should a life be prolonged by medical technology? A powerful and timely documentary, Money and Medicine takes on this difficult subject, revealing the downside of medical technological advances, while millions of U.S. dollars continue to be spent in development and research. As medical care costs continue to spiral out of control, the combination of technology and innovation, patient demands and expectations, an aging population, medical malpractice suits, and a complex insurance system present enormously difficult medical, ethical, economic, and political challenges. Director Roger Weisberg and SLO County Public Health Officer, Dr. Penny Borenstein will be in attendance.
