Stage Door Stars, Spring Session 2012
Workshop Goals:
- Develop body awareness and the ability to express characters through movement while exploring storytelling, improvisation, pantomime, dance, and a multitude of imaginitive performances.
- Facilitate communication skills with 1:2 ratio of support
- Build social networking skills through small group activities and peer interaction
- Provide avenues to experience sensory regulation through thematic movement activities
- Improve sequencing and recalling events through use of theatrical techniques
Format:
- Small and large group setting
- Individual "coach" for every 1-3 participants to assist and mediate as needed
- Peer models will be present in each group
- Audio and visual supports will be used as needed
- "Showcase" at the end of the workshop
The professional staff involved with this workshop include: a speech therapist, occupational therapists, special education teachers, a drama teacher, and choreographer, and volunteers
