In Conversation with BEST SELLING Author, LISA SEE Presented by CATS
Contemporary Asian Theater Scene presents

A Conversation with Best-selling author, Lisa See"

"One of the most significant Asian American voices in contemporary writing"

Lisa See, author of the critically-acclaimed international bestseller, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, has always been intrigued by stories that have been lost, forgotten or deliberately covered up, whether in the past or happening right now in the world today.   Her most recent release, "Peony in Love", is an acclaimed New York Times bestseller and was awarded Best Novel in 2007 in Southern California.

Her first book, On Gold Mountain: The One-Hundred-Year Odyssey of My Chinese-American Family, a memoir/history of her Chinese-American family, was a national bestseller. The book became the basis for an opera produced by the Los Angeles Opera for which See wrote the libretto, and an exhibition that she curated for the Autry Museum. She is also the author of three mysteries: Flower Net, The Interior, and Dragon Bones.

See observes that "Peony in Love is about the bonds of female friendship, the power of words, the desire that all women have to be heard, and finally those emotions that are so strong that they transcend time, place, and perhaps even death.

Lisa See has been called one of the most significant Asian American voices in contemporary writing.  She has also been named National Woman of the Year by The Organization of Chinese American Women.   Born in Paris, See grew up in Los Angeles, where she was active in the cultural affairs of the Chinese American community.   For more information on Lisa See, please visit www.lisasee.com
