Heartland Renewable Energy Society Energy Solutions Homes Tour - Kansas City Saturday, October 3, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
This is a self-guided tour (you drive). There will be three homes on the Kansas City HRES Energy Solutions Homes Tour.
There are two "shifts" for the Tour. Shift 1 starts at 9:00 am and Shift 2 starts at 11:00 am. So decide if you want your day to start at 9:00 am or 11:00 am.
TOUR COST (pre-register or pay at the first Site. Lunch only with pre-registrations) Option 1 - $5 per adult covers all homes. (no lunch) Option 2 - $20 per adult covers all homes and includes an organic and/or free range Box Lunch from The Sundry.

Ragsdale's home energy features. The house is a passive design with a southern sunspace and 12" thick internal mass walls. Windows are triple pane, dual low-e, argon filled units. The main level floor is reclaimed baltic birch plywood. There is some use of wood reclaimed from a home that was deconstructed on the site. There are 2 rainwater cisterns (2000 gal. and 1200 gal) and gray water drains separate from the septic system. Outside walls and the attic are R-60, or greater. The foundation is insulated with 3" XPS (R-15) The slab is insulated using 2" XPS (R-10).

Stay on State traveling west until 166th St. Turn left or south onto 166th St. Go until Evans Rd. Turn right or west onto Evans Rd. and go to 178th St. At 178th St. turn left or south. House will be .6 miles on your left.. on 178th St.
