Serious Drama Professional Acting Workshop for Young People
March 13th-May 2nd
Tuesdays 4:00-5:30 for ages 9-12
Wednesdays 3:30-5:30 for ages 13-17
Taught by Railroad Playhouse Artistic Director Seth Soloway and SUNY professor and professional director Cabot Parsons.
Classes begin March 13th and conclude May 2nd, culminatiing in a performance on Friday, May 4th of "I Never saw Another Butterfly" based on poems and drawings made by child concentration camp victims at Terezin in WWII. (Last 2 weeks of class both sessions meet both days, plus a dress rehearsal on the afternoon of May 4th prior to the evening performances; no class the week of April 3rd and 4th due to spring break.)
Topics covered include - the actor's instrument (voice, diction, movement) connecting on stage, building a character, the "Method", taking direction, improvisation and audition techniques.
Price includes 9 class sessions, dress rehearsal and performances all held at the Playhouse, 27 South Water Street in Newburgh.
$450 for the first child, $400 for each additional child. Contact Railroad Playhouse directly for additional child discount.
