Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) Comprehensive Overview - Oregon Statewide Teacher Inservice Day 2015
This Full-Day Comprehensive Overview of Collaborative Problem Solving includes lunch.

Located just across the freeway from the Woodburn Premium Outlet Mall.

Presented by Think:Kids certified professional trainer, Doris Bowman, M.S.Ed, this full-day intensive training is intended for mental health clinicians, educators, parents, and community partners with an emphasis in this particular training on applications for educators.  It is meant to give comprehensive exposure to the model.  Relationally based,  CPS views challenging behavior as a learning disability of some very crucial cognitive(thinking) skills necessary to handle the demands of everyday life.  Through a more empathetic and  accurate understanding of what is getting in a child's way, we (parents, educators, clinicians) are better able to intervene to support children through a collaborative process of teaching skills and solving problems.  For more information about the CPS model visit: www.thinkkids.org.

Learning Targets:
Provide an introduction to the philosophy of Collaborative Problem Solving.
Provide exposure to the assessment, planning and intervention components of the
         Collaborative Problem Solving model.
Provide strategies for when a child refuses or has difficulty with skills such as
cognitive flexibility, emotion- or self-regulation, or expressing his/ her concerns,
         among others.
Provide strategies for proactively working with children to build skills for areas that
        cause chronic challenges.
