Chicago's Greektown: A Historical Culinary Odyssey

Enjoy a walking tour led by Dame Camille Stagg, author of "The Parthenon Cookbook". We will meet at The Parthenon for an historical introduction to Greektown and then begin the two-block tour. Neighborhood visits include: Athenian Candle Co. (gift shop), which makes the candles for all of the Greek Churches in Chicago; the new National Hellenic Museum for a special guided tour; the new Elea Mediterranean Market, and then head to the Pan Hellenic Bakery. Afterwards we will enjoy a delicious Greek lunch at The Parthenon Restaurant. Chris Liakouras, who founded the restaurant 43 years ago, will talk during the introduction. His daughter, general manager Yanna, will introduce us to Greek wine during lunch. Camille will autograph copies of "The Parthenon Cookbook," available at a discount. After the tour, those who want to return to the shops can do so on their own.
