Bard Fest: As You Like It

Bard Fest is a 3-weekend Shakespeare Festival located in the charming Carmel Arts District of Indianapolis. This year, Bard Fest will celebrate it's first year by bringing together 3 of Indy's favorite local theatre companies: CRP, First Folio, and Garfield Shakespeare Co. Each unique company will present one of Shakespeare's classics in the intimate Studio 15 Theatre in Carmel. Through the generous sponsorship of the Carmel Theatre Company, Bard Fest will provide paying work for some of Indy's greatest Shakespeare talents.

Bard Fest will also feature CRP's Shakespeare Trivia Night's at Woody's Pub, thanks to our friends at Indy's Live Trivia. Other acts and events include, Improv Comedy, Music, Magic, and Fringe Encore acts.

First Folio Productions will present Shakespeare's classic comedy of whimsy, As You Like It, headed by director Lauren Briggeman.

Rosalind, the former princess, has lost her title to her best friend and her father, the former duke, to banishment. Orlando, a young gentleman, has been denied his rightful inheritance from his late father, and kept as a servant by his selfish older brother, Oliver. After a chance meeting at a wrestling match where Orlando has challenged the much renowned wrestler of the new duke, Rosalind's usurping uncle Frederick, both he and Rosalind find themselves utterly smitten with each other...and suddenly, unjustly homeless. Each, having nowhere else to go, escapes to the vast and treacherous Forest of Arden, where with the help of their most loyal friends they seek to build a new life for themselves free of oppression and tyranny, and end up finding greater wonders than that.
