King Lear
City Stage New West presents KING LEAR, a concert reading of Shakespeare's timeless and profound tale of an aging king who throws away his kingdom and his greatest treasure, his daughter. Considered by many to be Shakespeare's greatest work. Guest artist Richard Newman (recently acclaimed as "Shylock" in Bard on the Beach's The Merchant of Venice) tackles "the Mount Everest" of Shakespearean roles --while supported by a diverse cast of young 'emerging artists' and fellow guest artist Russell Roberts. Directed by Renée Bucciarelli. With harp, drums, trumpets, and swords.
