Walk through History: The Andre/Arnold Affair
JUST TWO SPACES LEFT!

The Historical Society of Rockland County Invites You to Join Us for a

Walk through History of The Andre/Arnold Affair

On September 22, 1780, Major John Andre and Benedict Arnold met along the Hudson shoreline. Their act of treason was a pivotal point in the Revolutionary War. Join us as we retrace the steps of Andre and Arnold in Rockland County. Guests will learn the details of this important historical event by visiting some of the places that were involved.

Meet your guide at the Haverstraw Dutchtown Park/playground by 10 am for a 15 minute walk, each way, along the stroller-accessible river path. Bring the family! Then visit the Treason Site Monument at Emeline Park and hear the story behind it. (Your guide will provide driving directions).

Afterward, we'll break for lunch. Guests are welcome to select one of the fine restaurants in Haverstraw to dine or bring a picnic (but save room for dessert at our final stop).

Finally, after lunch, we'll meet at 1:30 pm at Hoyer's Ice Cream, where our guide will provide information about the Treason House and the Historical Marker located on Route 9W.

You're welcome to join us for all or part of this "Walk through History."

- Part 1 of the tour begins at 10 am at Haverstraw Dutchtown Park/playground. Take Route 9W to Short Clove Road (the big wall), turn left at the bottom and continue past the quarry operation to a small playground and parking lot on your left.
- Part 2 of the tour begins at approximately 11 am at Emeline Park, below First Street in Haverstraw.
- Part 3 of the tour begins at 1:30 pm at Hoyer's Ice Cream, Route 9W, West Haverstraw. Your guide will provide handouts with driving directions to all stops. Guests will travel in their own cars from place to place.
