6 Week Dressmaking Class - Fully Lined Pencil Skirt

Learn how to make a beautiful, lined, pencil skirt in our friendly, warm sewing studio.

This dressmaking course is suitable for beginners upwards who have some sewing machine experience and want to progress onto dress making.

The Edinburgh Sewcial Club also runs beginners classes where you can gain experience of 'driving' a sewing machine and basic sewing machine stitches and techniques progressing on to make a bag, apron, cushions etc. If you have no experience why not join one of these classes before progressing on to make this skirt.

Class sizes are kept small to ensure you plenty of time with our sewing tutor who will guide you step by step through the process of making this staple, classic garment.

You will learn how to read a shop bought pattern, fabric properties, measuring and pattern adjustment, fitting and invisible zip and lining - enabling you to progress to making your own clothes at home or progressing to one of our intermediate dress making courses.

No need to bring any fabrics etc for the first lesson, I will discuss what fabrics are best to use and why and any other requirements - i.e. zips, thread etc. Machines are provided but you are welcome to bring along your own if you are more comfortable using this - you week one just bring yourself, meet other like minded people and start learning a new skill!
