What We Carried
We dedicate this First Thursday to the refugee experience: It's your last chance to see our exhibit Beyond Survival: Life as a Refugee, and the first days of Finding Place (see above). In addition, photographer Jim Lommasson presents a slide-show and talk called What We Carried, in which he asks Iraqi refugees to share what they brought with them -- a favorite photograph or item grabbed in haste -- to America. Lommasson photographed and exhibited the collection, capturing a host of awe-inspiring stories.
