St. Paul Puppet Slam
St. Paul Puppet Slam is an evening of adult puppetry featuring performances by local professional puppeteers. Puppet Slams have been growing in popularity across the United States over the past ten years. A Puppet Slam is composed of several different acts which use puppets in all or part of the drama. Each piece is performed by a different artist with a variety of themes and moods; from comedy to tragedy, political satire to prophetic. The St. Paul Puppet Slam will feature performances by Kathleen Conroy Mukwashi, Wayne Kreftig, Janaki Ranpura, Laszlo Nemesi, Jeff Neppl, and others. These puppeteers have performed at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival, HUGE Theater, Playwrights' Center, Pillsbury House Theatre, Heart of the Beast Theatre, and Forecast Public Art. They have been awarded Puppeteers of America Endowment Grants, Jim Henson Foundation Seed Grants, and UNIMA Citations of Excellence.
