MSW Music Series: Edge of Town
The six-piece Edge of Town band found its genesis in the living rooms of West Sonoma County. The members are friends who have played together, over the years, in various configurations. The band is: Tom Padrick on guitars, lead and harmony vocals, Jeremiah O'Neill on guitar and 5 string banjo, lead and harmony vocals, Dan Patchin on upright bass and singing some lead, Paul Smith on accordion, lead and harmony vocals, Maggie Ballard playing guitar and percussion, and singing lead and harmony, and Tom Ballard on mandolin, guitar, fiddle, lead and harmony vocals. The musicians have come together from disparate backgrounds to form the unique acoustic sound that is Edge of Town. The band mines various fields of Americana from "old time", early and alt. country, to a little R&R and some spice of "Tex Mex". Several of the band members are songwriters, so, of course, there is a healthy blend of original material as well. Edge of Town has played at various venues in Sonoma County and some larger outdoor festivals such as The Kate Wolf Festival, Two Day Town in Livermore and The Old Grove Festival in Guerneville.
