Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from the original by Nikolai Gogol. Directed by Marielle Duke.
A fun, physical production of Gogol's political satire. The mayor of a small town in Russia, his staff and his cronies learn that an inspector from the national government is coming, incognito, to investigate. They panic and fear that he will discover the depth of their chicanery and greed. They mistake a traveling con man for the inspector, who then finds a way to exploit them.
