Starlings: Folk Tales of West Africa & Russia
Younger Youth Programming ages 7-11 Directed by Maggie Weber Music, movement, dramatic play and more!
Session One (July 2 - 13) Tales from West Africa (The King's Magic Drum, The Three Brothers and the Pot of Porridge, KiigboKiiba and the Helpful Spirits)
Session Two (July 16 - 27) Tales from Russia (Baba Yaga Emelya and the Pike, Ivan the Simpleton, Two Sisters and an Old Man)
In two-week cycles from 9:00 am 3:00 pm students in small groups will be given a gentle introduction to theatre. Students will play theatre games and rehearse scenes from Folk Tales in the mornings in preparation for a staged performance, and in the afternoons create the costumes and the world of the play in the great room of the Old Stone House or in air-conditioned classroom across the street in William Alexander Middle School 51. This education program is, by far, Piper's most popular. Hurry, it fills up fast!
