When Tolbert Slade is hired as Captain Victor Doherty's new poetry editor, it seems like the perfect job. After all, he gets free room and board, decent pay, and an escape from his life in Chicago. But as he gets to know The Captain and his work, he becomes snared in The Captain's obsession with fame, bad poetry, time travel, and possible answers to his own past.
