For more than two decades Jacky Terrasson's exhilarating keyboard style has reinvigorated the piano trio format, mixing everything from post-bop to hip-hop in surprising ways. After winning the Thelonious Monk Award in 1993, it was clear Terrasson was a performer to watch. His original compositions are compelling and thoughtful, bringing an inventive, energetic perspective to cherished jazz standards. As a performer, he takes daredevil chances with the music, inserting lightning-quick tempo changes and re-harmonizations always landing on his feet. Cassandra Wilson, Michael Brecker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Ry Cooder are just a few of the many creative artists he has collaborated with in performance and on recordings over the years.
