The Lunacies of Love, An Evening of Songs about the Many Phases of Love...
The Lunacies of Love is an original revue comprised of classics, new and old, from several of Broadway's most-beloved songwriters, including Berlin, Sondheim, Brown, Holmes, Rodgers & Hart, Zippel & Coleman, Harnick & Bock, and Kern & Hammerstein II, and features songs from A Little Night Music, City of Angels, Company, Edwin Drood, South Pacific, Side Show, and The Last 5 Years, among others.
Lunacies traces the lunar voyage through love's obstacle course: burning and receding, waxing and waning, much like the phases of the moon. What begins giddy and carefree turns humorous, unpredictable and sometimes chaotic, with just a dash of wistful longing thrown in for good measure. The recipe never fails to confound and tantalize lovers; after all, only love matters in the end.
This evening of song showcases the talents of 13 local performers, many of whom have worked on professional stages throughout the US, Europe and Asia--all of whom should be familiar to local audiences.
The two-night event will be held at the Burgdorff Cultural Center, 10 Durand Road, in downtown Maplewood on Friday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 24th at 8pm. A gala reception and fundraising raffle follows both performances in the Burgdorff's adjoining community room.
Tickets are $20 General Admission, and $15 Students and Seniors.
