EL GRANDE DE COCA-COLA
For over 30 years, Low Moan Spectacular's hit comedy El Grande de Coca-Cola has won rave reviews in numerous cities around the world, including New York, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Brazil and South Africa. Published by prestigious Samuel French, this hilarious comedy continues to enjoy ongoing productions including this one. El Grande de Coca-Cola was the first ever theatre show presented in concert on HBO, and won the New York Critics Drama Desk Award during the first of two highly successful New York engagements. The show has the honor of being recorded for the Library of Congress, Lincoln Center Archives and has the blessing of the Coca-Cola Company.
The action of El Grande de Coca-Cola takes place in a run-down nightclub in Trujillo, Honduras. Third-rate impresario Don Pepe Hernandez brashly announces that he is bringing a group of famous international cabaret stars to perform in town. He persuades the local Coca-Cola bottling plant to back the show in exchange for some blatant product placement. With no stars willing to make the journey or ruin their reputation, Pepe is forced to substitute his untalented family and palm them off as the celebrities. Its showtime for Pepes disastrous production of Parada de Estrellas (Parade of the Stars).
