Dan Navarro and Tracy Grammer
When we learned that Dan and Tracy were planning a joint tour, we jumped at the chance to bring them to the Caffe Lena stage. Both were part of highly successful duos, and both tragically lost their partners in the last few years. And, both have overcome the loss and gone on to create solo work worthy of their standing as celebrated national artists.
Starting his career as a songwriter, Navarro's songs have been covered by Pat Benatar (The Top Five "We Belong"), the Bangles, Dave Edmunds, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick and a host of others. Best known for his long partnership in the duo Lowen & Navarro, Dan has recorded and toured solo since Eric Lowen's retirement in June 2009 due to Lou Gehrig's Disease). His performances are marked by rich insight and experience, delivered straight-up, with honesty, grace, and heart, in his moving and expressive baritone voice.
Singer and multi-instrumentalist Tracy Grammer, who gained widespread recognition for her partnership with the late songwriter Dave Carter, performs music that can only be called eloquent. With her masterful violin, guitar, and mandolin playing, and a distinctive, velvety voice, Tracy carries on her role as interpreter of Dave's mystical and finely honed songs and adds to the mix her own gorgeous originals and gems from other artists such as Jackson Browne, Tom Russell, David Francy and Paul Simon.
