The Nutcracker. A Contemporary Ballet. Gala Performance
The night's event will feature a full length performance of the piece culminating in a reception that will include food and drink (adult and kid friendly) and the opportunity for fans of all ages to take pictures with Soloist in costume.
Ferrone's fresh and modern vision of this beloved holiday classic balances strong classical ballet
technique and Tchaikovsky's original score with captivating contemporary movement, hints of
new dance styles, characters and scenes, and sprinkles of witty theatrical magic. Complimenting
the original cast are a beautiful and aloof Marzipan Doll, a Gingerbread Toy yearning to
experience human love and an 8 legged break-dancing King Spider who is defeated by the
Nutcracker himself, assisted by fly-swatting Candy Canes and a thumping Tarantella
choreographed by Nicola Iervasi www.mnelements.org.
