LIGHT SENSITIVE by Jim Geoghan
LIGHT SENSITIVE is the story of Thomas Hanratty, a lifelong resident of Hell's Kitchen and once the most dangerous cab driver in New York, who was blinded eight years ago in a drunken accident and is fading into a routine of self-pity and alcohol. Lou, a bartender and Tom's only friend, who was partly responsible for the accident, is moving to Vermont with a new lady friend, but he can't abandon Tom. He recruits an unattractive, slightly disabled volunteer reader (Edna) from The Lighthouse who battles her way through Tom's shell. By the second act, they are falling in love. His buddy returns with tales of his "Christmas from hell" in Vermont, and doubt arises as to who will hold the number one position in Tom's life. LIGHT SENSITIVE is a funny and touching holiday romance where friendship and love persevere. The play stars veteran actors John Craven and Laura Jorgensen (as Tom and Edna) and Keith Baker as Lou. EVERETT CHAMBERS, a veteran Hollywood producer and film director, makes his Sonoma County debut as the director of LIGHT SENSITIVE. A once close friend and colleague of the late John Cassavetes, Mr. Chambers is best known for producing the hit series Columbo, Peyton Place, and Johnny Staccato (starring Cassavetes).
