ANNA: Dad?. . . Is that you? ALBERT: It's the janitor. ANNA: Monsieur Albert! ALBERT: Just Albert, love. Do I know you? ANNA: I thought you were dead! I mean I thought I was alone. ALBERT: What makes you think you're not? ANNA: You? ALBERT: Oh me, well, no. That would be too easy. As it so happens, I am no one. A janitor's no one. The janitor of an empty theater closed by the Huns is less than no one. He is a can opener without a can. A key without a lock. A skull without Hamlet. Anyway, what brings you to this Parthenon of French culture? ANNA: I'm here for the audition. I'm The Woman.
