Food Day is Community Day
On October 24th, people across the country will celebrate Food Day for the first time in decades. Picture Earth Day, but with the goal of healthy, affordable food for all, produced in a sustainable, humane way. We're celebrating Food Day on 18th Street by acknowledging the ways food has built community in our neighborhood over the years.
In honor of the new holiday, join Bi-Rite owner Sam Mogannam for a dinner conversation about how local businesses can anchor community development. Sam will share how he's shaped his father's grocery store into a place for neighbors to form lasting relationships with each other as well as with his staff and the producers of their food. Over a simple vegetarian dinner, we will have a q & a and Sam will share stories from his new book Eat Good Food. Copies of Eat Good Food will be available for purchase.
This is the second of our events based on Eat Good Food, the soon-to-be released book written by Bi-Rite Market owner Sam Mogannam and Dabney Gough. For each chapter we will be offering an in-depth learning experience to bring the book to life. This one is all about Sam's story and the introduction to Eat Good Food.
