Temple Israel is located in a dense Hollywood neighborhood and is anchored by a historically significant sanctuary. A comprehensive masterplan allowed the synagogue to expand educational and liturgical spaces. A new chapel, expanded courtyard and remodel of existing social spaces and circulation energize worship and community activities for this progressive Reform congregation.
The project is concluding a multi-phase design and construction process that began in 2006. The new chapel is an uplifting light-filled space with a tallit-inspired swooping ceiling that extends into a remodeled social hall. Community and school programs take advantage of the new library and meeting spaces.
