Canzona Women's Ensemble Autumn Concert

The 22 voices of Canzona Women's Ensemble will celebrate autumn with music of Victoria, Monteverdi, Handel, Copland and Whitacre. Featured soloist LInda Ashworth will accompany the ensemble on oboe and English horn.

Benjamin Britten's 4-movement Missa Brevis will close the first half of the program with accompanist Janis Johnson on organ. The second half of the program includes duets by Monteverdi, music in Hebrew and Ladino, Eric Whitacre's lovely setting of She Weeps over Rahoon with English horn, and a set of pieces commemorating the sesquicentennial of the American Civil War.

The program concludes with a rousing arrangement of the spiritual Let Me Fly.
