---

The French Salon has been known for hundreds of years as a casual and intimate gathering for poets, musicians, and artists to share their works with one another, and with their friends in people's homes. The Laulima House provides a beautiful, elegant setting conducive to such an afternoon of music, food, and drink.

Ohana Arts co-founders mezzo-soprano Laurie Rubin, who has performed with New York City Opera and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and pianist Jenny Taira who has performed at Carnegie Hall, the French Embassy and the State Department in Washington D.C. will be performing a program of French song and Broadway hits to get audiences at a modern American salon humming beloved tunes, just the way Poulenc and his friends would have been doing in the early 1900s.  The afternoon will include a silent auction, raffle, and light refreshments.

Ohana Arts is a 501(c)(3) performing arts festival and school dedicated to bringing high caliber educational and professional arts programs to Hawaii.  Proceeds of this event supports the Ohana Arts Fall Festival of Music, bringing together local and mainland musicians to celebrate French classical music.  The week of events will include performances and Master Classes in schools island-wide.
