Alternate Destination 2nd Annual Reunion Concert
Alternate Destination, the unique World Chamber Jazz trio, announces their second annual reunion in concert. The trio will be performing on August 8, 2015, at Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church, 2828 SE Stephens St, in Portland. The concert begins at 8:00 pm.
Alternate Destination plays original music that blends Western classical chamber music with world music and jazz influences. Alternate Destination features Mary Ellen Grace on saxophone and clarinet, Joel Kleinbaum on bassoon and clarinet, and Michael Hagmeier on guitar, didjeridu, and percussion.
The unique sounds of Alternate Destination include the didjeridu, exotic musical modes, extended improvisation, and ever-changing meters. Said one listener, "I might as well surrender to the odd meters and just groove."
