Flare Path
This summer we are presenting a full staged version of Terence Rattigan's World War II play "FLARE PATH," written in 1941 and set in the residents' lounge of a small hotel frequented by the pilots and crew of a nearby RAF station. It is a place where lips are worn stiff and tension is relieved by alcohol and banter.
Over a single night in the Falcon Hotel on the edge of the airfield, a group of British airmen leave on a night bombing mission over Germany as their wives and friends anxiously await their return. Rattigan, drawing on his own experience as a tail gunner in the RAF, brings to life the complexity of a unique moment in history. "Flare Path" is a heartening reminder of the human capacity for valor. This is a most wonderful play and our very talented cast includes a number of new comers to our troupe of actors, each of whom brings different experience and varied flavor to our production. Come and see them all shine on stage at the Pico Playhouse this summer.
