FREE Exploration of Newtown Creek Tour
This is a round trip tour from Governors Island.
Join us for City of Water Day's tour on Newtown Creek, an estuary that divides the Boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens for a distance of four miles, emptying into the East River. The Creek was once known as one of the "busiest waterways of its size in the world" and is now one of the most polluted waterways in the country. You will charter up and into the Creek aboard New York Water Taxi and hear the creek's history, work by environmental advocates to raise awareness to clean the creek, and Newtown Creek's future.
Plan to arrive at Governors Island at least 45 minutes before your tour to allow time to participate in the City of Water Day festival and make your way to Yankee Pier. Please arrive to Yankee Pier approximately 30 minutes before departure time. Tickets unclaimed 15 minutes before departure will be made available to standby passengers.
