The symposium investigates the conference theme of shifting baselines across five specific topics: Freshwater Basin, Choreographing Sediments, Landscapes of Dredge, New Economies, Participation and Engagement.

Confirmed speakers include:

- Peter Annin, author of Great Lakes Water Wars
- Jen Maigret and Maria Arquero, architecture and landscape architecture, MAde Studio/University of Michigan
- Neeraj Bhatia, architect, The Open Workshop/California College of the Arts

**UPDATE AUGUST 10: THE TOUR IS NOW SOLD OUT.**
THE TOUR
Duluth, Minnesota
12:00 pm-6:30 pm, Monday, August 17, 2014

We will take you on a guided tour of landscapes of dredge in Duluth, focused on dredged material uses and habitat creation. Tour guides from the City of Duluth, the Duluth Port Authority, and the Dredge Research Collaborative will narrate your journey. The tour will involve both bus and boat legs. (See http://dredgeresearchcollaborative.org/dredgefest/tour/ for the full schedule and pick-up locations.)

All told, it will be approximately seven hours, with a focus on on-site land use interpretation and exploration. There will be frequent stops to check out sites of interest in person.

The tour will conclude with a reception at Clyde Iron Works.

**UPDATE AUGUST 10: As the tour is now sold out, the workshops are only offered without the tour included. Reduced price tickets reflecting this are the only workshop tickets on sale.**
THE WORKSHOPS
A cadre of local and international designers, including Mark Smout (Smout Allen/Bartlett SoA, UK), Kristi Cheramie (Ohio State University, US), Matthew Spremulli (University of Waterloo, CA/formerly with Lateral Office), and Fionn Byrne (University of Toronto, CA/incoming Kiley Fellow at the Harvard GSD), will join the Dredge Research Collaborative to lead these workshops. The workshops are hosted by our partners the School of Architecture and the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Minnesota.
