Tending the Wild: Native Plants and Native People
All the Native American tribes (Wappo, Pomo, and Miwok) whose territories surround Pepperwood relied upon plants for their survival. Join anthropologist Benjamin Benson and Autumn Summers, program coordinator for the California School of Herbal Studies, as we explore the sophisticated system of "tending of the wild" that these and other California first peoples used to create an abundance of edible, medicinal, fiber, and basketry plants. Participants will be pruning, digging and planting. (Ages 15 and up)
