Fear Itself
New Stage Performing Arts Center, will present a workshop production of "Fear Itself", a new play by Mark Rosenthal, which examines the relationship between Eleanor Roosevelt and her close friend, Associated Press reporter Lorena Hickock. "Fear Itself", called by the author "a serious comedy," takes place in the years just before and after Franklin Delano Roosevelt's first election as president, and traces Eleanor Roosevelt's development, with Lorena Hickock's support, from "Reluctant First Lady" into the public and political figure she becomes, and the impact that development has on the private and passionate friendship between the two women. Other characters include Anna, Eleanor's daughter, and political kingmaker Louis Howe. "After each performance, the audience will have the opportunity to give feedback to the writer, director and cast," says Artistic Director Nicki Wilson. "They will be able to contribute directly to the development of this exciting new play." The cast of the production includes Judy Pieschel, Susan Buchholz, Rebecca Leigh, Andrew Joffe, Kathleen Lynch, Kathy Jo Grover, and Scot Vighi. The production is directed by Hope Fitzgerald. The play runs from June 16 through June 19, Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 PM, Sunday at 3:00 PM. Performances will be held at the NEW Stage Performing Arts Center, 55 North Street, 2nd floor, above the Beacon Cinema. Tickets are $15.00 general admission, $10.00 for Seniors and Students. Reservations can be made by calling (413) 418-0999
