Triskelion Arts Presents... Kirsten Schnittker and Michael DiPietro
Triskelion Arts is pleased to present a shared program of new work by Kirsten Schnittker and Michael DiPietro & Lena Hawkins this October in the Douglas Elliman Studio Theater. (PLEASE NOTE that the entrance to the Elliman Studio Theater is on the Calyer side of the building.)

The artists will be presenting "Yours and our devices", choreographed by Kirsten Schnittker in collaboration with the performers (Isabella Hreljanovic, Amity Jones, Jeremy Pheiffer and Tara Sheena) with music composed by Caroline Park; as well as "Votive", written and performed by Michael DiPietro and Lena Hawkins.

The artists offer a shared evening of performances in conversation with each other and with the audience, upending expectations of the theatrical space. Schnittker continues her research into the commanding force of gaze: how it connects, equalizes and empowers us, while also holding the potential to be alienating, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. Using gaze to confront the viewer and reveal complexities within the performers, she asks us to notice the intense struggle we afford in shaping our identities in the presence of others. DiPietro and Hawkins' Votive creates a collage narrative of fragmentary confessions, horror-film moments and karaoke favorites. Using character play to confront personal trauma, the artists call into question values of transformation, authenticity, shamanism, and ritual. Votive is an attempt at a tool kit for collective healing. Now, let's work through some things.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
