Pulcinella
LDT's Artistic Director, Graham Lustig, has created "Pulcinella" danced to the sumptuous neo-classic score composed by Igor Stravinsky. Mr. Lustig is exploring the Commedia dell'Arte, the Italian form of theatre that began in the mid-16th century characterized by masked "types" of iconic characters. Pulcinella was a prominent stage figure that emerged from the Neapolitan tradition, and has derived into various forms elsewhere, the most famous as the puppet character, Punch, of the famous Punch and Judy shows in England. A farcical forerunner to slap stick, Commedia dell'Arte is the perfect setting for this high spirited romp and it promises to be an uproarious evening to one of the world's greatest pieces of music. Completing this program are Torch, Infinitum and Laney Engelhard's Truth and Grace.
