Kimberly Akimbo by David Lindsay-Abaire
Darkly hilarious like life itself, "Kimberly Akimbo" is a funny, edgy, yet touchingly poignant story of the Lavaco family who recently moved from Secaucus, New Jersey, to Bogota for mysterious reasons. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire ("Rabbit Hole", 2007) has a knack for illuminating the unsettling truths about life in general and family life in particular, while keeping us in stitches all the way. Major family dysfunction, love, mortality, self-centeredness, criminality, failures of empathy and even a tragic roll of the genetic dice all manage to become side-splittingly funny in this off-beat play. Like all real comedy, Kimberly exposes deeper truths - in this case about family life in our time - if anyone can stop laughing long enough to find them! PLEASE NOTE: This play contains language and adult themes which are not suitable for children.
