Firm Roots
FIRM ROOTS is a jazz sextet made up of some of the finest musicians from Pittsburgh, Pa and the tri-state area. The group is comprised of:
Dr. James Moore - trumpet / flugelhorn
Jeff Bush - trombone
Eric DeFade - tenor / soprano saxophone and flute
Dr. Alton Merrell - piano
Paul Thompson - bass
Thomas Wendt - drums
In addition to being members of the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, the members of FIRM ROOTS also perform with many other groups, as well as teach at a wide variety of institutions including:
Carnegie Mellon University
West Virginia Wesleyan College
Duquesne University
Youngstown State University
The Afro-American Music Institute
Lincoln Park Performing Arts School
