Margaret Fuller 201st Birthday Party
Please join the Margaret Fuller Bicentennial Committee for our final celebration of Margaret Fuller's legacy on May 25, 2011, the week of her 201st birthday.
The festivities will take place at Max and Dylan's Restaurant at
15 West Street, Boston
former home of the Elizabeth Peabody Book Room, where many of Fuller's famed "Conversations" took place.
Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. Dinner at 7:00
Introductory remarks will be made by Megan Marshall, author of The Peabody Sisters: Three Women Who Ignited American Romanticism, who will share Book Room lore about Peabody, Fuller and the Conversations, before introducing our Special Guest Speaker.
We are pleased and honored to present Dr. Phyllis Cole, author of Mary Moody Emerson and the Origins of Transcendentalism. Dr. Cole's fields of specialization include American Transcendentalism and nineteenth-century American women writers. On this occasion she will offer her observations on
"What Margaret Fuller Did For Feminism"
Due to the capacity of the venue, we are only able to entertain 44 guests, so please sign up early for what promises to be a memorable and historic event.
