The day will conclude with a Devil's Masquerade reception/afterparty featuring live music, spectacles, cocktails, auction, and costume contest with prizes for best costume. This night will also be the opening party for our newest exhibition "OPUS HYPNAGOGIA: Sacred Spaces of the Visionary and Vernacular" curated by Stephen Romano for the Morbid Anatomy Museum.

The Festival of Arcane Knowledge will run from 11 am  7:30 pm; beginning with introductory remarks by our Board Chair Tracy Hurley Martin, and feature talks by Harold Schechter on the history of violence in entertainment; Dr. Neal Goldsmith on psychedelics and death (based on his multi-sold out lecture); Douglas Rushkoff on "Living Taxidermy and the Real Housewives of the OC," Jessica Glasscock of the Metropolitan Museum on Fashionable Mourning in the 19th century; alchemist Brian Cotnoir on the use of blood on alchemical preparations; Dan Smith on books bound in human skin; Robert Schneck on "Auto-decapitants;" and Karen Bachmann on spontaneous human combustion. There will also be a show and tell featuring an Egyptian mummy head with Mike Zohn of TV's Oddities; antique masonic magic lantern projections by filmmaker Joel Schlemowitz; requiem listening with Carl Schoonover; new episodes of Morbid Anatomy Presents with filmmaker in residence Ronni Thomas; music from the land of the fairies by Doug Skinner; demonstrations by taxidermist in residence Katie Innamorato and hair artist Karen Bachmann; and presentations by beloved lecturers Amy Herzog, Colin Dickey, and Egyptologist in Residence Ava Vitali. There will also be complementary beer while supplies last.
